The intriguing, finely cut, purple-black foliage of 'Black Lace' recalls the exotic Japanese maple or a rare Cimicifuga as opposed to the easy-to-care-for Elderberry. Midsummer brings massive clusters of diamond-sized florets in pure white with a pink blush that emits a surprising light lemon scent. Adaptable to most growing conditions and hardy all the way to Zone 4, making it a better choice than Japanese maple for many areas. A dramatic accent for the full sun to partly shaded garden, brought to us by Ken Tobutt and Jacqui Prevette of East Malling, England.
