We have had this very fine cultivar of the Sawara Cypress since we began our garden 14 years ago, and have been rewarded for the decision on a yearly basis by its carefree nature, pleasing texture and shining yellow-green foliage throughout the year, intensifying to a striking golden yellow in winter. Very fine in combination with the brilliant red twigs of Cornus sericea æSunshineÆ, in full sun and any well-drained soil.
Very similar to C. pisifera æCompactaÆ but this has bright flecks of gold throughout. It is a charming and little-used dwarf conifer that we grow in a slightly shaded position, but would certainly tolerate, perhaps be more content, in full sun situations. 1 ft. by 1.5 ft.
