Cornus 'Hedgerow's Gold' $14.95
Hedge Dogwood
The bright green leaves are boldly margined with an irregular pattern in golden yellow, dancing like flames along deep burgundy red stems. After leaves drop in autumn, the red stems stand out against the stark winter landscape, offering bold color and sculptural form in the garden at an otherwise dreary time of year. Displays great vigor, forming a thicket that quickly reaches 6 ft. tall by 6 ft. wide. Best with regular water, good light and protection from the hot afternoon sun.
Cornus mas 'Aurea' $16.95
Dogwood
We originally received a cutting of this plant from J.C. Raulston. Bright, fully golden leaves are well maintained throughout summer following a lovely display of yellow flowers in late winter. Always popular, this grew in our perennial borders where it added its bold presence to numerous color schemes in spring through autumn, especially good with the deep blues of Salvia guaranitica. 15 ft. x 15 ft.
We brought this clever selection of the Cornelian Cherry back from the Netherlands several years ago and have finally built it up for sale. Each leaf is handsomely emargined with yellow, which in short order fades to a lovely shade of pink and ivory; in our cool maritime climate, this effect is retained throughout the summer months. The same frothy display of yellow flowers are presented on bare twigs in late winter. Ultimately to 15 ft. x 15 ft.. This grows in our double border within the nursery proper.
