Indigofera heterantha $9.95
Himalayan Indigo
There are few subshrubs we grow that I admire more than this species during its extended season of blossom from mid-summer to late autumn. Forming an arching plant to 6 ft. x 6 ft., racemes of pretty pink 'pea' flowers are produced non-stop amid finely textured gray-green pinnate foliage; growth resumes very late in the season so donĘt assume this to be dead in late spring. For full sun, well-drained soil, this will exhibit great drought tolerance when fully established.
Agapanthus 'Mood Indigo' $15.75
Lily of the Nile
To date, this introduction from the LA State and County Arboretum is the darkest of the Agapanthus we have come upon, and we are growing many! This is based heavily on the winter deciduous species, Agapanthus inapertus, carrying deep violet tubular flowers in moderately sized heads in mid to late summer. If you, as I, are an Agapanthophile, then this is not to be missed. Full sun, of course, and draining soil.
