We have long grown this charming, enormously polite cultivar in our arbor beds, where it has created low spreading mats of handsome narrow green spears to 10", with a long-lasting display of white flowers with yellow-veined falls in early summer. Full sun and any well-drained soil.
Hauntingly beautiful, this Sichuan, China native bears sweetly fragrant, large-lipped, especially dark violet flowers, 2-3 inches across, in early summer atop pale grayish-green leaves. A dramatic, eye-catching choice paired with Geranium 'Katherine Adele'. Prefers well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.
I am very thrilled, well perhaps very excited, to offer this dwarf ôNapaulensis Irisö from which I collected seed from moist meadows of the Zhongdien Plateau in the autumn of 2000. Low tufts of foliage to 8in., with fragrant flowers of light blue with a yellow-orange crest in late spring and early summer. Full sun and moist, humus-rich soil is best û though this Iris is seemingly adaptable.
