Arisaema thunbergii ssp.urashima $14.95
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
A striking collection from Western Japan. Lanceolate leaflets are bright, shiny green and topped by scintillating purple and white striped spathe. Grows in the hills surrounding the famous Shinto Temple on Miyajima Island.
Arisaema taiwanense $19.95
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
This rare, durable, easily grown Taiwanese species is spectacular. A large whorl of long, narrow leaves with an extended drip tip appears atop sensational purple mottled stems. Dark hooded spathes enclose a white stubby spadix, followed by enormous heads of red fruit that ripen near ground level.
Arisaema ciliatum var. liubaense $15.95
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
This æJack-in-the-PulpitÆ species I collected in Yunnan Province in 1996 has proven to be a striking addition to our late spring woodland garden, with elegant whorls of foliage atop stems to 2.5 ft. and handsome purple and white hoods emerging from mottled stems beneath. Hardy, easy to cultivate and long lived.
Arisaema consanguineum $10.95
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
Mixed accessions from the Western Hills above Kunming in Yunnan Province, this population had many divided leaflets with long drip tips (variable length among seedlings) atop stems to 3 ft., though in our woodland, our mature plants rise to nearly 6 ft. in height. The purplish striped flower arises from the leaf petiole just under the foliage, with a short, green spadix and a pendulous spathe with a long, acuminate tip.
Arisaema taiwanense - silver leaf $19.95
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
Curious and beautiful variants selected from our own seedlings, they possess a remarkable pewtering overlay to the foliage with the same dramatic stem and flowers of the species. It is, apparently, a naturally occurring deviation in wild populations of Taiwan. A breathtaking foliage plant with marvelous patterns.
Arisaema tortuosum $19.95
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
The tallest of the genus, rising over 6 feet in height. Snake-like stems and greenish spathes with a darker erect spadix rise above. A dramatic plant and a reliable fruiter in warm climates, it is quite common in the wilds of Northern India.
