The lowest-growing selection of the common Cherry Laurel, this Washington state-selected form grows as a dense, flattened mound to 1 ft., offering itself as a remarkable and durable groundcover for sun as well as shade in any soil. Upright candles of white emerge from the foliage in early spring. This is vastly deserving of greater use as a top-notch groundcover in the PNW.
Prunus lusitanica 'Variegata' $12.95
Portuguese Laurel
The handsome and scarce variegated form of the Portuguese Laurel has bright, creamy white emargined foliage borne on colorful red twigs, and stems rising to 8 ft. over a long period of time, though surprisingly vigorous. For full sun or partial shade in nearly any soil, this is a remarkably adaptable shrub certainly deserving of more use.
