Among the most exquisite of all lily species, this stunner bears groups of blooms with gently recurved petals in soft greenish-yellow with magnificent bold center blotches of wine red. Prefers cool, acidic soil in partial shade.

Panther Lily
The Panther Lily is a prized and glorious species with stems cloaked in whorls of lower foliage, alternately arranged along the upper reaches of the stem, capped by nodding flowers comprised of strongly reflexed petals of glossy orange red, thriving in moist, sandy loam or clay soil with copious quantities of humus added during planting, in full sun. Probably lime tolerant.

Lily of the Nile
An unusual cultivar bred by legendary Agapanthus breeder, Peit Zonneveld, 'Back in Black' boasts jet-black stems topped with deep purple flowers. Beautiful black seed pods develop after the flowers fade, providing summer-long garden interest. Seed pod topped stems stand out in cut flower arrangements. The flower stems emerge green and gradually blacken as the flower progresses. Healthy 1 year old bare-root plants are shipped in spring only. *Available as bare-root plants only.
At high elevations in the Wolong Valley above the Panda Reserve, this species was common, with stems rising to 4 ft., with a branched and wide-spreading inflorescence holding 5-6 flowers. Slightly nodding flowers are held in terminal umbellate inflorescences, with reflexed petals of pinkish white heavily stained and spotted with burgundy. Somewhat moist, humus-rich soil in full sun. In open meadows at 9000-9500Æ.
