A commanding choice for its statuesque height; 'Hewitt's Double' displays terminal sprays of clear pink flowers in midsummer complemented by lovely columbine-like foliage.
A celebrated and exceptional species from near Lichang in Yunnan Province-in fact in the same area that Jean Marie Delavay himself explored. Providing an airy spectacle of yellow stamens enclosed by relatively large purple sepals in mid-to late summer, on stems carrying very finely textured blue-green foliage it is indeed a superb garden addition.
A seductive choice, with long, thin ebony stems reaching upward, emphasizing the statuesque height. Airy puffs of small, delicate pink flowers are noticeably brighter than other selections and are borne on tightly branching panicles from late spring into midsummer. A distinguished presence in the back of the perennial border or at the edge of a woodland clearing. A partially shaded spot with rich soil gives the best results, but plants will take more sun if kept sufficiently moist.

Meadow Rue
Majestic columns of rich smoky lavender-pink blooms rise skyward like sparks from a fire. Provides extremely long flowering in full sun or partial shade. This choice cultivar often surpasses the typical 5 feet in our garden; needs staking if grown in rich soil.
Take the essence of clean white baby's breath, add stature, structure and finely textured bright green foliage, and you have this, a must-have plant for everyone's garden. Mounds of fluffy, 1 inch flowers are borne on widely branching panicles in late summer. Though seemingly suited for the mid-to back-of-border, we find its "see through" haze just as effective in a front position.
Extraordinarily impressive species collected on Emei Shan in China's Sichuan Province in 1996. Billowy mounds of large blue-green leaves yield an unending progression of white flowers, opening from pink buds in early to late summer. We found it on weeping limestone cliffs with Mahonia gracilipes, though it is perfectly content in our light woodland in humus-rich soil and supplemental water during the height of the growing season.
